My Story

The Velvet Tarantula was created from the love of treasure hunting.  

I'm either shopping at local or out-of-state thrift stores,

finding an estate sale or getting lucky at a local yard or garage sale.

I sat down one day and decided to turn it

into a business and share my finds with everyone!

​

The quirky name of the shop came to be when trying to figure out something unusual. I found a flocked tarantula at a discount store during Halloween

and it got me thinking, a Velvet Tarantula!

Also, during the months of September and October

there are tarantulas running around here in Tehachapi, CA.

​

I have curated a lot of amazing vintage, one-of-a-kind items

to be admired and make new memories,

in new places for more decades to come!
